18 Week Bumpdate!

I always told myself that I would be really good about taking bump pictures & never imagined that i'd fall off the bandwagon... But, unfortunately, I have! I'm a lot better about posting some bump pictures on Instagram though (ADayInTheLifeCait)

Unfortunately, this picture was taken at 18 weeks & 5 days (and i'm currently 19 weeks, so i'm obviously way behind in these bumpdates!)

How far along? 18 weeks (and 5 days!)

Baby Size:
Baby is the size of a mango (6 inches and a half pound!!)

Total weight gain:
Refusing to weigh myself... Ugh.

Maternity clothes?
Yup... and oh my goodness are they comfy!!!

Stretch marks?
None yet! I'm hoping it stays that way ;)

Sleep:
Sleeping pretty good! Except for the fact that my fan died last night before we went to bed... Me + Silence = HORRENDOUS SLEEP!

Best moment this week: Continuing to make this house a home! Enjoying being a homeowner with my hubs!

Miss Anything? Wine... Our end of the year school celebration was rough... I really wanted to have a glass of wine!! But, don't worry, I obviously didn't!

Movement: None yet, but i'm excited to know that I'll be feeling the little one any day now!

Food cravings: No REAL cravings... But, if I hear about something, i'll automatically want it. Like when I was searching Instagram on Friday and what popped up on my feed? None other than Kathrin's ( Shop.School.Sleep ) delish food truck foodies!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope... But, I have been feeling kinda icky the last week...

Gender: A BOY!!!!!!!!!! Colton John Cavallaro!

Mood: Getting excited to know that i'm nearing the half way mark!!

Looking forward to: Feeling Colton move... Our baby shower back home in Indiana in a few weeks!

My crazy life just got a little crazier...

For those of you who have kept up with my blog for more than a day, you probably already know what a challenging school year this has been for me. I've had a really difficult group of kids who have made me go crazy on them, but have also made me love my job even more.

As challenging of a year as this was for me, it was also the most REWARDING year i've ever had. Not only did I feel as though my kids ACTUALLY learned something, but the most important thing that happened this year was making a difference.

Every teacher wants that "aha" moment with a child where they automatically love learning and you realize that you made this huge impact in a child's life. And trust me, working in a Title 1 district, you have students like that every year that you hope to reach. And sadly, 99.9% of the time, you don't reach them.

Well, that all changed this year. I want to cry just writing this because of how PROUD I am of one of my students! Not only did he change his life around this year and make good decisions, he stayed out of trouble, and for the first time in his life, HE PASSED THE STANDARDIZED TEST!!!!!!!!! The second to last day of school, we asked our little darling what made him change his life around this year... his answer? THE TEACHERS. It was literally the proudest moment i've ever had!!!!!!

I then received this on the last day of school:

Ignore the grammatical errors... But for a child who "doesn't say much," this spoke millions!

Which leaves me to my big news...

I have decided to leave the classroom.

Okay, not EXXXACTLY leave the classroom. A few weeks ago I was approached by my Assistant Principal who was recently promoted to principal at the nearby elementary school (the one that feeds into my intermediate school.) He informed me that he had a skills specialist position available and thought I would be perfect for the job! No interview, more money, and a better chance to help the babies entering intermediate school. So, after deliberating and sitting on it for a day or two (and talking it over with the hubs), I officially accepted the position!

As of August, I will no longer have my own classroom. I will be in working with 3rd and 4th grade students in Reading and Writing! I will be doing pull out, small group intervention, modeling lessons in classes, helping new teachers, leading collaborative planning meetings and creating lessons and activities for teachers. It's a huge step up from classroom teacher, as it's a leadership position in my district.

Prayers needed for all these knew changes in the Cavallaro household... New house... New baby... New job... What's next? Taking over the world?

We finally have a name for Baby Cav!

If you are already a friend of mine on Facebook, then this is a redundant post ;) If you aren't a friend of mine on FB, then shame on you... and you should probably go straight to FB and add me ;)

If not... Then me & V ****FINALLLLLLLLLYYY**** decided on a name for Baby Cavallaro! I have been waiting to name this little fella for a while now. And let me just tell you, picking a name was HARD (okay, not for ME, but it certainly was for V!) He pretty much veto'ed everything... He was definitely thinking TOO hard about it!

Here was our original list of names:

-Corbin
-Silas
-Colton
-Sebastian
-Kellen

Well, baby Cavallaro FINALLY has an official name.... Drum roll please....

I'm thinking this will be a perfect addition to baby COLTON'S wardrobe! Yup, our Texas born baby will always be a Hoosier at heart! Mommy & Daddy can't wait to meet you in November, Colton John Cavallaro!

Colton it is! Although... I made V promise that our next son will be named Sebastian... My favorite name will never go away ;) Hahaha!

While you're adding me on FB, you may as well go to Instagram and add me on there too! ADayInTheLifeCait

How far along? 17 weeks

Baby Size:
Baby is the size of an onion

Total weight gain:
Refusing to weigh myself... Ugh.

Maternity clothes?
Yup... and oh my goodness are they comfy!!!

Stretch marks?
None yet!

Sleep:
Sleeping pretty good, surprisingly. I can hardly stay awake and only get up once to use the bathroom

Best moment this week: Finally deciding on a name for baby Cav... I am SO in love with you already Colton John!

Miss Anything? Being "skinnier" this whole weight gain thing is making me super super super self conscious!

Movement: None yet, but I can't wait until I feel you a moovin' and a groovin' in my belly!

Food cravings: Not much actually. Candy. But that's all I ever ate anyways at school... My kiddos think it's hilarious

Anything making you queasy or sick: So lucky that I haven't had to deal with nausea or being queasy throughout this whole pregnancy. Hoping it stays that way!

Gender: A BOY!!!!!!!!!! Colton John Cavallaro!

Symptoms: Sciatic pain is still doing a number on me... It's getting pretty hard to stand all day at school. During SSR (silent reading) I tend to sit on top of my back counter or front desk (no kids sit there. It holds warm up and homework and other stuff.) The belly's growinnnng!

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Mood: Happy and excited :)

Looking forward to: We move into our house on Tuesday... It was supposed to be tomorrow, but the title company dropped the ball, ugh! Our last day of school is Thursday and i'm starting to get emotional. As hard as this year was, I feel like I kicked freaking butt. I'm feeling very bittersweet about leaving them... I am so attached already and I know i'll be a hot mess saying goodbye to my little (errr... big) ones! <3

I also have some other important news to share... As if my life wasn't exciting or crazy enough... I'm adding something new to it! Tune in later this week to hear about it ;)
