Thanks for the blizzard, Indiana!

Like I mentioned yesterday, me and the hubs travelled back to Indiana for the holidays. The drive wasn't so bad with Justin Bieber and Eminem/Tupac on repeat... Not like those aren't complete opposite musical genres or anything. We had a pretty great time visiting with family, even though it is somewhat stressful trying to make time for everyone, as well as seeing friends. But, we somehow always end up making it work (hopefully!) This post is going to be picture overload.

Also, I need some advice (especially from you teacher bloggers!) Scroll to the bottom to read about it :)

If you are friends with me on Facebook, then you have most likely already seen all of these pictures :)

Me & Matchu... I'm surprised he allowed me to take this picture. He HATES pictures!
It's been 5 years since we have been together for the holiday's. So glad Biggy got the time off from work!
Christmas Eve... AKA Gallistasch Family Christmas!

One of my best girls... I love her and her family!
Blooper TAKE 1... I love Poppy's face in this one. My dad's hilarious!

Christmas at the Cavallaro's... It's always one of the things we look forward to the most! Wish we lived closer to all of them to spend more time with them! :(
Will it be door number 1 or door number 2? Choose wisely!
Missy had to jump on one foot and sing a Christmas song... Gigi and Molly wanted in too!
I have the best family imaginable.

Trio. My heart and soul.
At about 10 pm on Christmas night every year begins what we like to call CHRISTMAS DOS AKA MATCHU'S BIRTHDAY. It's always one of the CRAZIEST NIGHTS/DAYS. And it literally lasts a full 24 hours.

This is such a fun group of guys! They have been best friends with Matchu since middle school! Cj (left, just moved from Saudi Arabia to Honduras to teach English. He always argues with Matchu about whose smarter!) Jimi (third, lives and works with Matchu at the same law firm in Denver), Matchu (fourth, he doesn't look like the genius he really is. Nor does he look like your typical lawyer... Haha!), Alex
One of my favorite pictures. The two additions to the family (Although, Hubs has been around for 7 years, this was Karina's first Galligan Christmas and she survived! Way to go, sister! Can't wait for her and Biggy's wedding THIS YEAR!)
LOLA NEEDS TO GO ON A DIET! No wiener dog/beagle should look like this...
Matchu is always arguing with CJ about who is smarter.
Only my brother shovels snow in a t-shirt. Notice CJ and Jimi in the back in SNOW SUITS.
First time Karina has seen this much snow! She successfully crossed 4 things off her bucket list... Shoveling snow, making a snow angel, having a snowball fight and sledding!
I wouldn't turn around, Jimi.
Right after this we went sledding and decided to create a game... Whoever was sledding was able to be tagged by snowballs while they were going down and running back up the hill. Matchu's genius idea. Except he was packing ice balls. He tagged Biggy so hard in the face that we're all surprised Biggy didn't have a black eye. Nice arm, ex-baseball player!
I realized while packing for this trip that I am NOT accustomed to cold weather anymore. All I packed was DRESSES. Yes, I packed dresses with two feet of snow on the ground. So we had to find whatever we could to go sledding in. Thanks for having all the tacky clothing, Mom & Dad!
All of us are Texans now. I love living only a few hours from my Biggy. We couldn't wait to get back to our "warmth" of Texas.
I told you Matchu hates pictures. He refused to get in this one! :(
I consider all three of them my brothers. Murphy was such a big part of our family while growing up, that my parents even put him in one of our Christmas cards! He's had a long, hard ride the past couple years but i'm proud to say that he has been COMPLETELY CLEAN FOR OVER A YEAR NOW!!! I am SO proud of how hard he's worked to better himself!
Just celebrating our main man, Jay! He's a hot shot LA Californian now...

UGH, I AM SOOO NOT READY TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL ON MONDAY! Break never lasts long enough for me. I'm already stressing out knowing how much stress will be put on me once the new semester starts up again. Students took 9-week Benchmark Tests TWO DAYS BEFORE BREAK (who does that?) and the scores were NOT good, even though we had been preparing all semester long. Actually, the district scores were in the toilet as well. I need some new ideas on how to reach my students and have them REALLY understand the curriculum. Because what we are doing is not working and I really need them to do better on those tests. The tests are just SOO hard (even to me!) and it's like their confidence is just PLUMMETING after taking them. I've tried incentives, i've tried everything I can think of. I know my kiddos are SOO much smarter than those tests are showing!! I'm SO frustrated!!! Any tips out there, fellow teacher bloggers?

Wooow, welcome back Blog!

Has it seriously been a WHOLE MONTH since I last updated? To say that life has been busy is an UNDERSTATEMENT! Up until break, I worked like a mad woman!! Educating the youth of America is TIRING and I was one tired middle school teacher!

But alas, I am all rested and now I am gearing up to head back into the classroom for the second half of the year.

Me and Hubs drove a TIRING glorious 18 hour drive back to Indiana the day after school let out in order to spend the holidays with our terrific families! I wish I could say that going back home is a vacation... But, it truly isn't. It's always SO stressful and tiring. I always miss our families, but I enjoy our little life we have created here in Tejjas. I will update later on all of the holiday happenings.

Until then, I am leaving you with my life (during the last month) through the eyes of Instagram!

Obsessed with my dogggg
Bella is soo pretty :)
Happy Holidays from the Cavallaro's
Sleepy Lola
This happened about 10 hours before we were supposed to drive to Indiana... MY BEST FRIEND'S ARE ENGAGED!
GO HORSE. Way to beat the Texans ;)
Why thank you, Children.
Obsessed with this. My aunt sent it to me. I love my grams.
My kiddos love these board games from Lakeshore.
N* gave me the award he received for the most improved in reading enrichment class! It's now hanging next to my desk on the wall. SO PROUD OF HIM!
OOTD in 30 degree weather. Not like I was cold or anything... And if the outside wasn't cold enough, it's like an ICE CUBE in my classroom...
Is it bad that these were my FAVORITE Christmas presents this year? Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, new electronic pencil sharpener and Lakeshore gift card. THANKS FAMILY! :)
Reunited and it feels sooooooo good! Love my sibs.
Just the beginning of one of the craziest nights i've had in a LONG, LONG, LONNNNG TIME. A team that happy hour's together, stays together. Lovin' my 5A team members!
Thanks for the blizzard, Indiana.... NOT. This was only fun for about 5 minutes.

The last day of school before holiday break, we wrote our donorschoose thank you letters to my aunt & uncle and Chevron. My kiddos are hilarious. They really were SOO appreciative of all the supplies we got. WE LOOOOOVE YOU DONORSCHOOSE.ORG!!!!!!

On a sad note, my brothers dog, Althea (AKA Pretty because she was so damn Pretty, obviously) passed away over break. She was 7 years old and the light of my brothers life (literally.) They took her to the vet on Christmas morning because she was throwing up all Christmas Eve. They released here and said everything came back clean. Unfortunately, about 5 hours later, she was throwing up blood and died on her nice tempurpedic bed (yeah, she had a freaking tempurpedic dog bed!) in my parents living room. My brother was obsessed with this dog. She had been sick for about 2 years and he spent upwards of $5,000+ in the last year and a half keeping her alive. We were all happy that she was able to make it home one last time. But, she will seriously be missed. I have a heavy heart over it. Say a few prayers for my Biggy!

Althea meets her cousin Bella for the first time!!!
It's crazy to see how small Bells was when we first got her! She was about 2 months old when we made our first trip to Austin with her to meet her cousin, Althea!
Yes, Bella does look so small compared to Althea. But, keep in mind that Althea weighed almost 150 pounds...
My favorite picture of the two of them.

We miss you Pretty girl!

I'll update all of my other great happenings from Indiana and holiday break tomorrow :)

Real Life VERSUS Blog Life

I don't post my link on my personal facebook page.

I don't have a facebook page for my blog.

I don't usually mention blogging in real life (unless of course it's with the hubs or when i'm hanging out with my blog turned real life friends)

Am I the only person who hasn't merged their real life with their blogging life?

It's not like I don't want my IRL friends to know that I blog.

I think it's maybe that I don't want my friends to "read" about my life. Or know how I feel behind closed doors? I make it a point to be pretty happy and put on a pretty good facade at school.

I'm not sure I want people to ACTUALLY know how I felt. And i'm just uncomfortable with my friends (or co-workers - even though MAJORITY of them I consider pretty CLOSE friends now) to read about all of my feelings and thoughts about school.

Even though I try to be mostly vague when writing about school (which is unfortunate, because there are SOO many things I WISH I could write about and get advice about when it comes to my occupation.) But, I also know what could and has happened to bloggers who blog about students, administration, co-workers, etc... THEY'RE FIRED.

Am I the only one who feels this way? Or the only one who keeps their BLOGGING life SEPARATE from their REAL life? If you do keep them separate, why? If you don't keep them separate, why? Thoughts?

What this leads me to is the fact that many of my Blog friends have turned into REAL friends, which I am SOOO very thankful for! That was one of the other main reasons why I started this blog... To connect to other people. To form relationships. To have that immediate connection to someone. I am SO lucky that I have those relationships now. And I hope to form MANY, MANY more with other bloggers!

I met up with some FABULOUS bloggers last night for the Houston Blogger Symposium Holiday Party hosted by Megan at Greetings from Texas! Thanks for having us Do or Dye TX!

Here is proof that a GRRREEEATTT time was had by all!

The first blog friends I met in real life (over the summer) SO thankful for them!
