Ummm... Did I *REALLY* need that brand new outfit?

In case you forgot, I have officially put myself on a budget.... tomorrow.

I went shopping this past weekend because I NEEDED WANTED new school clothes. I technically don't NEED ANYTHING... But, I HAVE WANT to go back to school in STYLE. In reality, I really have no fashion sense what so ever. I CONSTANTLY mix patterns & colors & most of the time I roll out of bed and realize half way through the day that I don't match AT ALL.

Please don't judge the next few pictures. I tried to have the hubs take "OUTFIT" pictures for me... But, please tell me I am not the ONLY ONE that thinks it's SUPER AWKWARD to pose & have their hubby/boyfriend/fiance/significant other/complete stranger take pictures? Because after two pictures, I had the hubs stop because I felt awkward & I could tell he thought I was ridiculous for taking pictures of myself in clothes for my blog.

Another tangent... I feel like EVERY conversation I have now-a-days with the hubby is about blogging... BLOG THIS, BLOG THAT. "Oh, new clothes, I HAVE to take pictures for my blog!" "Great dinner? Don't let me forget to put this on the blog!" "Honey Boo Boo shows up on TV... BABE, I NEEEEED TO BLOG ABOUT THIS!" "OMG, I GOT ANOTHER FOLLOWER!" (As V rolls his eyes.) "Did you read my new blog entry?" "I can't wait to see all the girls at the Blog get together this weekend!" I am sorry hubs for all the BLOG talk lately. And forgive me in advance because i'm sure it will just continue to get worse better.

Now, it was a bad hair day (hey, I actually had to GET UP this afternoon morning & attend staff development at 8am! I'm not used to this now, so I have to slowly ease my way in to real life again and actually look PRESENTABLE... What, sweatpants & unwashed hair isn't presentable? DARN!)

So much for a "SHORT" blog post (I blame it on my awwwwful ADD, haha)

Shirt: Forever 21
Skirt: Ann Taylor LOFT

Shirt: Banana Republic
Skirt: Ann Taylor LOFT
Jacket: Marshalls

Without the jacket

I originally LOVED this shirt so much that I also bought it in blue (didn't take pictures of that since it's the SAME EXACT shirt) but you can tell better in this picture how much it BUNCHES on the left side because that's where the zipper is. So it doesn't fit under all my skirts and when left out it's HUGE & baggy.

I don't usually shop at Banana Republic (kudos to all of you that do)... I can't believe how FREAKING EXPENSIVE THAT STORE IS! Golly!

Shirt: Jennifer Lopez from Kohls
Belt: Ross
Skirt: Ann Taylor LOFT

Shirt: Forever 21
Belt: Off a new'ish dress from Langford Market
Skirt: Ann Taylor LOFT

Shirt: Forever 21 (same shirt as first picture)
Belt: Ross
Skirt: Ann Taylor LOFT (This skirt is actually one size too big - although it doesn't look like it in the picture - and will need to be taken in - it gapped BAD in the back - but I couldn't resist it for $25!)

Bella would NOT let Mommy take outfit pictures
I love my teacher sweater from LOFT!

I loved this shirt (from above & the 1st picture) but I didn't realize how LOW CUT in the back (and SEE THROUGH!) it is... So, it would definitely not be appropriate for work unless I had a jacket/sweater over it.

I am OBSESSED with LOFT! Mainly because I get a teacher discount & usually ONLY shop clearance! Forgive all the wrinkles in the skirts (I JUST took them out of the bag. Yeah, I suck!)

Teacher friends (and non-teacher friends!) What do you wear for your first day of school (or your first day of work?)

Also, anyone know where to get inexpensive (I'm CHEAP) flats? I can't wear heels at school (My feet would HATE me since i'm technically not allowed to sit ALL. DAY!) But, I need some new flats (and I need them CHEEEAPPPP!) Suggestions?

I WILL NOW CONCLUDE THIS NOVEL. I get an A for good intentions though, right?

  1. Can I come steal all of your clothes please?! I LOVE the Loft! You are going to be one of the best looking teachers at your school! All others will be jealous! I get a lot of my cheap flats at Target!

  2. Really cute outfits! I like to get my flats at Nordstrom Rack. I've been thinking about what I want to wear on the first day of school, and as of right now I will be wearing a navy blue sheath....but that will probably change in 15 minutes. LOL

  3. I LOVE that jacket from Marshalls. Like. Seriously. Love.

And if I had a choice? My entire wardrobe would be from LOFT. But alas, I can only afford the clearance or when they have the wonderful 40% off sales. But seriously. I love that place a little more than anyone should.

  4. So if you open your closet one day and find that yellow skirt missing, it's because yours truly flew in from Florida and stole it! I've been wanting that skirt for so long but they've been sold out in my size since forever!
I got my outfit figured out. I'll be wearing this cream and teal striped dress with my favorite wedge sandals. Just have to remember to sit appropriately!
    Sorry for the novel!!

  5. Love the outfits! I feel you with the whole hubs taking pictures...it's awkward! Especially when your hubs thinks its ridiculous! Sounds like our husbands are alike.

  9. So cute! And yes, you totally needed those new outfits. Who wants to start the school year wearing clothes you wore in April and May? Not I. I need to hit up The Loft stat! Totally forgot about the teacher discount, too. Off to bed now...my PD begins tomorrow morning at 9. Stab me in the eye.

  13. I love the LOFT skirts! Hope you used your teacher discount! :)

As for cheap flats, try Payless Shoes. If you're a triple A member, you can get a 10 or 15% discount off your purchase. I wore flats from there all during student teaching and it was the best.

  17. New follower, so glad I found your blog! I love, love, love LOFT and could spend tons of money there. All of your outfits are really cute, especially the one with the Banana Republic shirt - I actually tried it on a few weeks ago but decided against it. And the Marshall's jacket - too cute! I think I need to go shopping now :)

  18. I love all of the outfits, especially that white top! Oh I haven't even asked my husband to take pictures because the awkwardness is just too much ;)

  19. Hahah I ask my husband to take pictures of my outfits and he complains...then the ones he takes aren't as good as my tripod..so now I don't bother asking him hahaha.

  20. Girl, you did some DAMAGE, but those are really cute buys!

I just bought amazing shiny black flats at Payless over the weekend. Wearing them now, and they're awesome. (http://www.payless.com/store/product/detail.jsp?catId=&subCatId=&skuId=084079100&productId=68790&lotId=084079&category=&catdisplayName=Womens)

    Also try Kohl's!

Hey, are you in for yoga next Tuesday night at 7pm?

  21. Love the first shirt and the second oh and the orange skirt & the yellow one is super cute too. Oh and the tan shirt with the bow is really really cute also. :) Basically I think your shopping trip was a huge success!! Good work! hahah

I haven't been to LOFT in quite some time. Looks like I need to take a trip there.

p.s. I have a very hard time finding cute things at F21 anymore. I get too stressed out in there!

  22. I love all these clothes and might come steal them from you!!

  23. Personally, I'm totally comfortable with posing and having my husband (or, if I actually want the pictures to be good, my brother) take pictures of me. But I am definitely guilty of talking about blogging to my husband all the time. He insists that he's interested in all of it--sweet man!
And I never go in Banana Republic because I know that I'll like the clothes there and I know that I can't afford them. Sad story: a few weeks ago my husband picked out and bought a dress there and gave it to me for my birthday--I loved it, but it was too big! We returned it, but that was the smallest sixe they made in that style, so we had to start over on my birthday present. So I almost got a dress from there, but didn't. :(

  25. I LOVE all of your outfits!! So cute! And I know what you mean, once you dive into the blogging world, there is just so much blogging to talk about! But I love it :)

  26. AH! I feel the same way you do---I don't NEED anything new for school...but I WANT new clothes for school. It's such a tradition that American culture has put within us!

I blogged about some outfits and there's a picture of some cute flats I just bought at Target....http://mrshahndaydreams.blogspot.com/2012/08/what-i-wore-august-peek-boohere-you-are.html

They were on sale, so run and try to get them! :)

I'll be wearing a pencil skirt and top for the 1st day of school--ya know, all professional...but I'll get more relaxed as the weeks go by!

  27. 1. Love your new clothes. Too cute.
    2. YES! I hate when hubby takes photos of me. He's a photographer, for cryin' out loud, but I swear he makes me look so much fatter than I actually am. I don't know what it is, but I almost always re-do them. LOL
    3. My husband is now trained on bloggy things. He'll be all, "hey babe, do you need to take a picture for your blog?" haha

  28. OMG - love this post!

I tried to have my hubby take pics of me once and it was a complete disaster! Now I resort to mirror pics like you did! Also, I'm trying really hard not to talk about blog stuff with the hubby, I can tell that he litterally could care less! Although, sometimes he has ideas and wants me to put certain pics on the blog, so maybe he does care, just a little..

All your new clothes are super cute, I love Ann Taylor Loft!

  29. Love the lace tops! And those cute colored skirts! Yay for being cheap because I sure am too, lol. Also, I have that jacket from Marshalls except mine is 3/4 length sleeves (either that or I have insanely long arms lol) and I have seriously gotten so much wear out of it. I didn't realize it would work with as many outfits as it did!
