6 years!

A little over 6 years ago when I was 20 years old, I met the man of my dreams. Here is the shortened version of my love story.

I met Vince in August through a mutual friend, Kyle. We started hanging out in September (not exclusively, because we were both hanging out with other people at the time). He asked me to be his girlfriend the end of November. Flash forward 3 weeks.... It was December and he told me 'he didn't love me', so he broke up with me. (Mind you, we were only dating about 3 weeks!) I cried and cried... and then I cried some more! About a week 1/2 later, he realized he made a mistake and came to my house for the holidays (I was about to leave for London 1 week later to study abroad for 4 months). He bought me a beautiful diamond necklace. Well, we were standing outside my parents house saying goodbye when he told me that he loved me and wanted to be with me forever. He asked me to be his wife and marry him. (Instead of asking me to be his girlfriend again! Ha).

The next day we decided to exchange the diamond necklace for a diamond engagement ring. We decided not to tell our family... and a week later I left for London. For Spring Break, Vince flew to London to spend the week with me. We travelled to Stonehenge, Bath, all around London and finally to Paris, France to spend the weekend. It was the BEST time of my life and I knew in that instant that saying yes to his marriage proposal was the best decision of my life. A week after he left, I decided to call and tell my parents the news (It had been about 2 months). My parents were surprisingly supportive (even though they had only met him a handful of times & I was extremely young and still in college).

Flash forward again.... I get back from London, he moves into my house at college (he lived 3 long years with 3 women... God bless him!) After a 2 1/2 year engagement, we were finally married in May 2009 in front of 175 of our closest friends and family.

Now, 6 years and nearly 3 years of marriage later.... I love him more NOW than I ever did then. It's been quite a roller coaster with a lot of bumps and turns, but I truly believe that the best decision of my life was my decision to marry my husband!

Plus, it makes for quite a story now and every time I tell it, I can't help but smile!

  1. I'm glad you are together. We all have bumps and curves in the road but that is what makes us stronger. Congrats. It was so good to have you home for Christmas.
