We got there at 8:15 and instantly felt claustrophobic. I wish that many people celebrated MY birthday every year! We made our way to a bar to have a drink since there were literally 2593475923652375 people and we could hardly walk. After my yummy blue moon, we left to find a spot to watch the fireworks.
9:20 and they start... everyone is "ooh'ing" and "ahhh'ing" and me & V just look at each other and look around confused. Yes, our AMAZING spot (that we thought we were so clever to find) was not even in visible range of the fireworks. So, we braced ourselves to walk through the crowds one more time and found a nice little spot BEHIND TREES. (yes, trees).
Did I mention that we were only there for about an hour and a half and it took OVER AN HOUR to get out of the parking lot??!!? And of course as soon as we got in the car to leave I had to use the bathroom. Let me re-state that it took OVER. AN. HOUR. TO. GET. OUT. OF. THE. PARKING. LOT! I about peed myself, no joke.
After getting out, V beelined to a gas station and then we were on our way to his co-workers house to light off fireworks (It would have been a tad embarrassing to meet someone for the first time if I really did pee my pants!) We had a few glasses of wine and then V and his new BFF decided to have a firework duel (forgot the name of the firework) but the boys were pointing them at each other and the fireworks shoot out. NOT A SMART HUBBY!
And then one of the big fireworks fell down and I almost died because it shot its 500 fireworks in my direction. I literally was jumping and dodging, I felt like I should be in some type of action movie. Near death experience. It would not have been good for my blogging status at all. Phew.
And here is my one and only AMAZING picture of the night. Brace yourselves. It's just that amazing.
Yup, I told you it was amazing..... HA! |
P.S. Funny story, while we were on our way to see the Fireworks, Hubby asked me if I brought my camera (for once I didn't). But, I totally thought of you Kelly B., J.D. when your hubby asked if you had your camera when you got engaged! :)
Your blog is so pretty! :) I am a teacher too...can't wait to get to know you!

Cute blog! As you know I am a teacher. I've spent my summer so far going to the gym, the library and spending time with the boyfriend.
ReplyDeleteOh and boys get silly with fireworks. It's in their DNA!
My hubs is in retail too. Holidays are very lonely. And when my bday falls on Black Friday, that's even better. Can you sense the sarcasm?
ReplyDeleteThis year we drove to a spot about a half mile away and pulled over on a dirt road to watch the fireworks.... I totally hate traffic and crowds. Why must the "boys" always get in firework fights? LOL
ReplyDeleteI hate traffic! Sounds like a pretty good evening all things considering. New to your blog, now I just have to figure out how to follow via my phone:0 lol
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. I do photography semi-professionally, so all my posts are pretty photo heavy. Haha!
I work in The Woodlands (right along the waterway), and people were saying hat a mad house it was last night. Every major event in The Woodlands is a mad house which is why we didn't go. :-) I love the photo you got, though!
ReplyDeleteYeah, it was much more craziness than I had anticipated. Definitely won't make that mistake again next year... I am opting out! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! That is crazy that it took that long to get out of the Parkin lot! But glad you got to see some fireworks and got at least one pretty cool pic!
ReplyDeletePs. Glad you didn't get hurt while being shot at by fireworks lol
Sounds like you had an eventful 4th of July!! =) too bad you didn't have a good view of the big show, but the after party sounds like it was fun! Thank you for your sweet comments on my blog!! It's always fun to meet new blogger-friends =).
ReplyDeleteUgh, crowds....I haven't been feeling them lately. We avoided those on the 4th...and the only fireworks I got to see were on the way home. That is a pretty awesome picture you got of the fireworks though...and I'm glad you got to pee, but that totally sounds like something that would happen to me. I ALWAYS have to pee at the worst possible times.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you found my mommy blog and of course, I love that you are following me! I also have a teaching blog and since you are a teacher, I am pretty sure you would want to follow that one too (faithfulinfirst.blogspot.com). If you hurry, you might catch my giveaway before it is over!
ReplyDeleteI am your newest follower and I am loving your way with words and the cuteness of your blog!

That photo was great but maybe not exactly worth it? We were able to see the local fireworks from our backyard, thank goodness! Sounds like you are enjoying your summer :)
ReplyDeletewe went to The Woodlands too to watch, went over on Market Street, I think it took us about 30 minutes to get out of the traffic, we amazingly found a spot to park ON market which was crazy
