"We had to save you because you're the Mockingjay, Katniss," says Plutarch. "While you live, the revolution lives."

If you don't know what the title of my post is from, then you should probably stop reading this.... NOOOOW! And press the little 'x' in the right hand corner of the screen.

I can't believe that I haven't mentioned my love for The Hunger Games yet! I just need to throw out that I was obsessed with Hunger Games before it was "THE HUNGER GAMES." Here are just a few examples of my obsession:

Mrs. Cavallaro's cool classes love the best books! Despite the criticism I received after posting this picture on Facebook and the numerous amounts of people that told me how awful of a teacher I was for promoting this type of book in my classroom, I couldn't be happier with the amount of reluctant/non-readers I got to actually pick up a book and READ! It speaks volumes to have students who refuse to read, find something they love!
Why yes, we sure did order Hunger Games t-shirts and yes, we did wear them to the premier. We are SO cool!
Hunger Games ID card? Yup.... Did I mention how cool I am? Because this just justifies my cool'ness!

Well, there you have it folks. If you haven't actually read the book, YOU NEED TO! The movie was good too... But, I am a huge book person and movies adapted from books never really live up to my expectations.

Now that I have gotten SUPER SIDETRACKED... It brings me to the whole reason why I am writing this post to begin with.....

Philip Seymour Hoffman joined the cast as Plutarch Heavensbee, the new head Gamemaker... He is going to be perfect for the part! He has stared in many movies such as The Talented Mr. Ripley, Almost Famous, Capote, Charlie Wilson's War, Mission Impossible 3, etc.

Jenna Malone was cast as Johanna Mason, the District 7 victor. (If you don't recognize her, she was the little girl from Stepmom & also stared in Suckerpunch.)

There has been a lot of talk since The Hunger Games movie came out as to who should be cast as Finnick Odair in Catching Fire. Who would you like to see play Finnick?

(If you don't know who that is, shame on you!)

"The bird, the pin, the song, the berries, the watch, the cracker, the dress that burst into flames. I am the Mockingjay. The one that survived despite the Capitol's plans. The symbol of the rebellion."

  1. Thanks for stopping by my blog, I am now reading all of your posts and honey you are cracking me up!

  2. Hey girl - thanks for stopping by my blog! I love the Hunger Games, I read all 3 books on vacation this Spring and I'm ADDICTED. I seriously can't wait until the 2nd movie :)

    I'm now following!

  3. I loved the hunger games before all the hype too! I was actually a world book night giver this past April.I was given 20 copies of HG to pass out. So fun! Cannot wait for the next movie!!

  4. I loved these books. And boo on anyone who told you it's bad for you to promote these books. Anything that gets kids reading is a GOOD thing, especially in this day and age of Jersey Shore and such.

As for Finnick, I have no idea. Who would you want to play him? Casting Jena is great! I can totally see playing Johanna.

  5. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog! OMG--I LOVE HUNGER GAMES TOO!! I would love Finnick to be played by Armie Hammer--one of the twins from The Social Network. I think he'd be perfect! I'm your newest follower :)

  6. I too have been into the Games before they were cool. Us cool kids have to stick together!

  7. I am sooooo BAD. I haven't read the series Mom has though...but I haven't. I don't have a lot of chances to read, that's my defense. Still Philip Seymour Hoffman? He makes everything awesome.

  8. Thanks so much for the sweet comment!!! YOu have got to be the coolest teacher ever!! Seriously, where were you when I was in middle school!! I love The Hunger Games, I am excited for the next movie to come out. I think it is the best thing since Harry Potter

  9. Best teacher ever! Definitely would have yelled at those haters!

  10. Ok you and I were meant to be. I am obsessed with the hunger games. But somehow I missed the memo on the ID cards...seriously, I need one right now. Immediately.

P.S. I say we go watch catching fire together with a group of gals ;)

  11. I can't believe people dissed you for promoting HG in your classroom! I'm sure you had many students engrossed in the books. :)

  12. HI there.... ummm... I am obsessed with Hunger Games also!!!!!!!!!!!!! I read all three of the books on my honeymoon. Is that weird? I hope not. I am so excited for the second movie. Although I was a bit disappointed with the first movie. But I love Woodie Harrelson. And I may love Phillip Seymore Hoffman even more. What an amazing actor. Did you see him in The Talented Mr. Ripely? So creepy!

  13. I loved the books! I definitely went through a little mourning period once I was finished with all three! I'm very interested to see who gets cast as Finnick :) Very nice to meet you! Thanks for visiting my blog!

  14. I love the Hunger Games, too! Read all three in four days. The word is that Sam Claflin from Snow White and the Huntsmen, is close to getting the part! People kill me when they are so critical of books and they haven't even read them! Heard that same song when Harry Potter came out. Now I loooove me some Ryan Gosling and he definitely has the body to play sexy Finnick!
I'll be with you waiting with bated breath until it comes out!
