MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR

"We had to save you because you're the Mockingjay, Katniss," says Plutarch. "While you live, the revolution lives."

If you don't know what the title of my post is from, then you should probably stop reading this.... NOOOOW! And press the little 'x' in the right hand corner of the screen.

I can't believe that I haven't mentioned my love for The Hunger Games yet! I just need to throw out that I was obsessed with Hunger Games before it was "THE HUNGER GAMES." Here are just a few examples of my obsession:

Mrs. Cavallaro's cool classes love the best books! Despite the criticism I received after posting this picture on Facebook and the numerous amounts of people that told me how awful of a teacher I was for promoting this type of book in my classroom, I couldn't be happier with the amount of reluctant/non-readers I got to actually pick up a book and READ! It speaks volumes to have students who refuse to read, find something they love!
Why yes, we sure did order Hunger Games t-shirts and yes, we did wear them to the premier. We are SO cool!
Hunger Games ID card? Yup.... Did I mention how cool I am? Because this just justifies my cool'ness!

Well, there you have it folks. If you haven't actually read the book, YOU NEED TO! The movie was good too... But, I am a huge book person and movies adapted from books never really live up to my expectations.

Now that I have gotten SUPER SIDETRACKED... It brings me to the whole reason why I am writing this post to begin with.....

THIS MORNING THEY HAVE OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED TWO NEW CHARACTERS FOR CATCHING FIRE!

Philip Seymour Hoffman joined the cast as Plutarch Heavensbee, the new head Gamemaker... He is going to be perfect for the part! He has stared in many movies such as The Talented Mr. Ripley, Almost Famous, Capote, Charlie Wilson's War, Mission Impossible 3, etc.

Jenna Malone was cast as Johanna Mason, the District 7 victor. (If you don't recognize her, she was the little girl from Stepmom & also stared in Suckerpunch.)

There has been a lot of talk since The Hunger Games movie came out as to who should be cast as Finnick Odair in Catching Fire. Who would you like to see play Finnick?

(If you don't know who that is, shame on you!)

"The bird, the pin, the song, the berries, the watch, the cracker, the dress that burst into flames. I am the Mockingjay. The one that survived despite the Capitol's plans. The symbol of the rebellion."

  4. I loved these books. And boo on anyone who told you it's bad for you to promote these books. Anything that gets kids reading is a GOOD thing, especially in this day and age of Jersey Shore and such.

As for Finnick, I have no idea. Who would you want to play him? Casting Jena is great! I can totally see playing Johanna.

  7. I am sooooo BAD. I haven't read the series yet...my Mom has though...but I haven't. I don't have a lot of chances to read though...so, that's my defense. Still Philip Seymour Hoffman? He makes everything awesome.

  12. HI there.... ummm... I am obsessed with Hunger Games also!!!!!!!!!!!!! I read all three of the books on my honeymoon. Is that weird? I hope not. I am so excited for the second movie. Although I was a bit disappointed with the first movie. But I love Woodie Harrelson. And I may love Phillip Seymore Hoffman even more. What an amazing actor. Did you see him in The Talented Mr. Ripely? So creepy!

  14. I love the Hunger Games, too! Read all three in four days. The word is that Sam Claflin from Snow White and the Huntsmen, is close to getting the part! People kill me when they are so critical of books and they haven't even read them! Heard that same song when Harry Potter came out. Now I loooove me some Ryan Gosling and he definitely has the body to play sexy Finnick!
I'll be with you waiting with bated breath until it comes out!
